Dennis Dale Gray, carpenter, dancer

March 13, 2013

Dennis Dale Gray, 60, of Georgetown, passed away in the loving care of his family and the caregivers of the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford Monday, March 11, 2013.

Born in Chester, Pa., July 18, 1952, he was the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Alice Berger Gray. Dennis was a beloved figure in his family, was a widower, having been preceded by his beloved wife, Rachel Whaley Gray in 2004.

He was a carpenter, working in construction with the John L. Briggs Company. He loved entertaining and loved dancing, in fact - he was “internationally known on the dance floor” - at least according to him, as he’d laugh and be quick to tell everyone about it. His constant riding companion was Cow-Cow, a beloved canine friend.

He is survived by two sisters: Elizabeth Grant, and husband Jerry of Philadelphia, Pa., and Kathy Deacon, and husband Bob of New Jersey; and a brother, Donald Gray Sr. of Bishopville, Md. He was preceded by four siblings: Sandra Finnerty, Richard Gray, David Gray and Robert “Hobbie” Gray. He leaves behind his nephews: Donald Gray Jr., Eugene Jarvis, Chris Jarvis, Dale Gray, Christopher Davis, Brian Davis, Tracy Flinn, Timothy Lindmeier and Thomas Finnerty; along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends and his special friends Donald and Linda Mullen of Millsboro.

Interment will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 15, in Dagsboro Redmen Cemetery, Dagsboro.
