Collins Washington Jr., former pastor
The Rev. Collins Edward Washington Jr. of Lewes died Monday, March 11, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family members.
Collins was born July 20, 1932, to the late Collins E. Sr. and Addie Washington in Newport News, Va. Collins spent more than 20 years in the Air Force; after retirement he took a job at Dover Air Force Base, first as a shipment clerk. He retired in 1987 as vehicle operator foreman after more than 22 years of service.
Collins was a member of Friendship Baptist Church; former associate pastor of St. George AME Church; member of Price Minister Association; member of the Union Gen Baptist Association; assistant pastor of Friendship Baptist Church;and a member of Rising Sun Lodge No. 4 Milton.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cora D. Washington; daughter, Leonia R. Robinson of Milton; seven grandchildren; niece, Linda Stone of Newport News, Va.; the Sinclair and White families of Hampton, Va.
Services will be held at noon, Saturday, March 16, at Friendship Baptist Church 500 W. 4th St Lewes. Friends may call at the church Friday, March 15, from 6 to 8 p.m and one hour before the service on Saturday; there will be no viewing after the service. The Rev. George H. Edwards will be officiating. Arrangements by Miller Funeral & Cremation Services.
