Sussex Tech senior Fallyn Smith earns music scholarship

Sussex Tech senior Fallyn Smith of Milton was selected to be one of two winners of Coastal Concerts’ annual scholarship competition. Her $1,000 award was based on talent, academic achievement, community service and teacher recommendation.

Smith plays piano and flute. She has held a chair in the flute section of County Band every year during her high school career. At Sussex Tech, she participates in the marching, concert and pep bands. Smith is studying environmental technologies. She also attended the 2011 Governor’s School of Excellence at the University of Delaware.

Daniel Iammatteo of Cape Henlopen High School was the other winner in the competition. Both will be introduced to the audience during the REBEL Baroque Ensemble concert Saturday, April 20.
