John “Jack” Ronald Lopez, 71, of Lewes, formerly of New Freedom, Pa., passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

Jack was born in Baltimore, Md., June 18, 1941, son of the late Alvin and Nellie (Young) Lopez.  Mr. Lopez was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force.  He retired as a technician with the Xerox Corporation in Baltimore with over 20 years of service, retiring in 1994.  Jack was also a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro.

He is survived by his two sons, Tim (Kelly) Lopez of York, Pa., and David (Trish) Lopez of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his companion of 20 years, Etta Thornton of Lewes; two grandsons, Evan and Nicholas Lopez of York; three brothers, Ross, Jimmy and Alan Lopez; and four sisters, Lynn Surratt, Betty Trommer, Jean Giprich and Margaret Lopez.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 11 a.m.  Interment with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
