Winterfest Barkfest checks donated to SPCA

March 23, 2013

A check presentation ceremony was held March 13 benefiting the Georgetown SPCA with funds presented from the 7th Annual Winterfest Barkfest held Feb. 8-9, both at Irish Eyes in Lewes and in downtown Lewes. Sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and financial sponsor Comcast Spotlight, the two-day festival composed of yappy hour at Irish Eyes and the pet pageant held on the renamed Bark Street, usually Bank Street, downtown.

Irish Eyes raised funds with a percentage of food sales going to the SPCA along with proceeds from the 50/50 raffle and pet-related raffles items. The pet pageant raised funds through the registration fees for the pageant and also voluntary audience donations.

Shown at the check presentation are (l-r) Dana Smith, Irish Eyes Lewes manager; Mary Ricci, Georgetown SPCA volunteer; Joanne Murphy, Georgetown SPCA volunteer and development coordinator; Kathy Davison, Comcast Spotlight; Lesley Bowers, P.U.P.S. of Lewes owner and events coordinator and founder; Sam Bowers; Betsy Reamer, Lewes Chamber executive director; and Charlene Jones, Irish Eyes owner.
