Three Delaware nonprofit organizations will host a statewide outreach in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties for veterans and veteran families in need of financial assistance and housing. The nonprofit community partners Connections Community Support Programs, People’s Place and Catholic Charities have coordinated their efforts through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program to seek veterans who may need help with rental expenses, utility bills and security deposits.
The one-day outreach event will be held in Sussex County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 22, at 123 Pennsylvania Ave. in Seaford.
Interested veterans are welcome to attend at no cost. Identification and documentation of need will be required with applications for assistance. The following identification must be provided for the veteran and each member of the veteran’s household: photo ID, Social Security card, birth certificate and income verification. The DD214 Form and documentation of need (proof of housing-related expenses including a lease agreement, notice of late payment or eviction, utility and other household bills) must also be provided.

Eligibility for the SSVF program is based on income and military service, with any discharge status other than dishonorable. The national SSVF program is funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs.
