Delaware State Police Sussex County Governor's Task Force officers arrested two men March 18 following a several month investigation into heroin dealing at Careys Camp Mobile Home Park in Millsboro.
At about 9 p.m., officers watched a transaction at a home in the 31000 block of Karen Street, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
When troopers approached Jermaine E. Leatherbury, 41, of Millsboro in the driveway, Fournier said, Leatherbury threw 21 bags of suspected heroin into the air and fled on foot.
A nearby task force officer arrested Leatherbury after a brief foot chase, Fournier said.
Police also arrested Justin C. Holston, 23, of Georgetown who was sitting in a car parked in the driveway. Police found a bag of heroin weighing about .025 grams and two syringes in the car, Fournier said.
Inside Leatherbury's home, police found 241 bags of heroin totalling more than 6.55 grams, 4.9 grams of cocaine, 16.1 grams of marijuana and more than $210 in suspected drug proceeds. There were four children under the age of 18 in the home and they were turned over to a relative, Fournier said.
Leatherbury was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of heroin, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Holston was charged with possession of heroin and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
