Rebecca 'Becky' Hudson Prettyman, retired secretary

Rebecca (Becky) A. Hudson Prettyman, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

 

Becky was born March 28, 1935, in Millsboro to the late John Layton and Sally Elizabeth Short Hudson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, John C. Hudson in 1990 and Preston L. Hudson in 2006.

She was a graduate of Millsboro High School and earned an associate’s degree from Delaware Technical Community College.

 

Becky retired from the Indian River School District as an administrative secretary in 1991. She was a member of the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and antiquing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William H. (Bill) Prettyman; two daughters, Mary Beth Burton and her husband Jack, and Suzanne Timmons and her husband Steve, and one brother, Edgar (Dale) Hudson all of Millsboro. In addition she is survived by her brother-in-law Ralph Prettyman and his wife Betty of Rehoboth; two grandchildren, Stephanie Timmons and Will Burton; as well as two stepgrandchildren, Ryan Timmons and Jessica Short; along with three stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends from across the area.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, where friends may call after noon.

 

Burial will follow at Millsboro Cemetery. Pastors Robert Hudson and Thomas Starnes will officiate.

 

A special thank you is made to the staff of Gull House in Rehoboth and also Delaware Hospice.
