Elmer L. Manning, enjoyed preaching

Elmer L. Manning, 86, of Milton, formerly of Linwood, Pa., passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.

Elmer was a retired maintenance mechanic with Balt Anchor and Chain in Chester, Pa.

He loved fishing, but gardening was his passion. He was a member of Midway Assembly of God in Lewes. Elmer had been a pastor with Trinity Christian Church in Newtown Square, Pa. and enjoyed preaching.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Norma J. Manning; his parents: Marion A. and Mary Etta (Baker) Manning; and two sons: Denver L. and Terry W. Manning.

He is survived by three sons: Eugene B. of Arkansas, Douglas A. of Milton and David J. Manning of Bethlehem, Pa.; a daughter: Shirley Manning Stewart, of Wilmington; a brother: Charles Manning of Chichester, Pa.; half sister: Bea Allen of Tennessee; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, March 25, in Midway Assembly of God, 34677 Old Postal Lane, Lewes, with visitation after 10 a.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, in Glenwood Memorial Cemetery, 2321 Westchester Pike, Broomall, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Midway Assembly of God, Benevolence Fund, PO Box 669, Lewes, DE 19958.
