Remedios 'Meding' Robb, operated day care

Remedios "Meding" Robb, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 21, 2013, surrounded by loving family after a brief illness.

Meding was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. At the age of 18, Meding met and fell in love with a handsome U.S. sailor, Bill Robb. After a year, the young couple was married Oct. 21, 1946. Shortly after that, the couple moved to the Georgetown area to begin life in the States.

For more than 39 years, Meding provide day care out of her home. Countless children from Georgetown and the surrounding area grew up under her loving care. The children loved their "Mommy Robb" and she loved each and every one of them like her own. The community lost a great resource when Meding closed her day care.

Meding and Bill where among the founding members of Saint Michael the Archangel, Catholic Church in Georgetown. For many years, Meding was an active member of the Sodality and the Columbiettes.

Meding took great pleasure in preparing large meals for her family and friends. Never satisfied with just a few dishes, we counted 22 items on the table at one particular holiday meal. She was especially gifted at baking pies; apple and pumpkin were her favorites. Over the years, she had perfected the art of a perfect pie crust. Her pie crust was flawless and rivaled any seen in a magazine.

Meding was a great cook and everyone loved her food. Cooking and baking was her way of showing love for her family and friends. Meding also enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was especially proud of her roses.

Meding is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William (Bill) J. Robb Jr; son David and his wife Elaine of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; son William and his wife Ann of Springfield, Va.; son Jeffrey and his wife Lana of Millsboro; and her six grandchildren: Amanda, Brendan, Billy, Alex, John, and Teena. She was preceded in death by their daughter Tracey in 1982.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward St., Georgetown.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown.
Burial will follow the Mass at Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Delaware Hospice Inc., 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
