Cape boys' lax outscores the Bucs 14-1

Cape junior attackman Luke Benson scored five goals and added two assists as the Vikings downed the Bucs 14-1 in the first regular-season game March 23 at Milford. Midfielder Matt Kane added three goals and two assists in the contest.

The Vikings opened the contest with seven goals in the first quarter while Milford tallied its only score on a man-up play. A six-goal second quarter sent the Vikings into the break with a 13-1 lead.

"We were really patient and made good decisions throughout the game," said Cape head coach Jack Lingo. "We took control on face-offs and took good shots."

Connor Brown and Blake Mann added two goals while Justin Lopez and Todd Keen each scored one.

Junior goalie Anthony Iammatteo stopped five Milford shots.

The Vikings host Sussex Central at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 27. Junior varsity action begins at 5:30.
