Thomas A. Roth, retired state trooper

Thomas Andrew Roth, 68, of Lewes, passed away suddenly Friday, March 22, 2013, at his home.  He was born in Dover Nov. 19, 1944, son of the late John James Roth Sr. and Ellen Shortall Roth. He was also preceded in death by his brother John J. Roth Jr.

Mr. Roth retired as a lieutenant in the Delaware State Police in 1986 after 20 years service.  Following retirement he worked for 15 years as a finance and insurance agent for the former Wright Chrysler, Plymouth &  Dodge automobile dealership in Lewes.  He had previously served in the Air National Guard, was a member of the Association of Retired Delaware State Police, and served on the board of the Delaware State Police Credit Union.

Andy enjoyed playing golf, boating, and most recently volunteering for Meals on Wheels.  The support of his family, fellow troopers, his many friends and The Word Of Hope Bible Study Group were very important to him.

Mr. Roth is survived by his wife Diane Hocker Roth; two daughters, Lindsey Roth and Lauren Roth both of Lewes; his stepson, Drew Adkins and wife Sarah of  Breckenridge, Colo. and their children Ali and Ashley; many nieces and nephews; and his devoted yellow lab Raleigh.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Building Fund, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, DE 19958, or to the Delaware State Police Museum, PO Box 430, Dover, DE 19903.
