Red Hat Society chapters receive proclamation in Lewes

March 27, 2013

Red Hat Society Ambassador B.J. Young and members of Delaware Red Hat Society chapters received a proclamation March 11 from Lewes Mayor James Ford.

The proclamation announces Thursday, April 25, as Red Hat Day in Lewes. On that day, members of the Red Hat Society will be celebrating their 15th birthday.

The Red Hatters traditionally receive the proclamation early in the course of the Lewes City Council meeting and then proceed to Irish Eyes for dessert.

The proclamation from Ford and other town mayors, as well as from Gov. Jack Markell, will be on display at a high tea which will be held at The Brick Hotel in Georgetown to celebrate the 15th milestone on April 25. Call 302-947-4533 for reservations.

The Red Hat Society is an international women's social organization which originated in Fullerton, Calif., in 1998.
