Opening reception set for April 6
March 29, 2013

Beginning with an opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 6, the Peninsula Gallery will host a one-month show of original watercolors by the Delaware Watercolor Society.

Kass Morin Freeman, AWS, NWS, will jury the exhibition, one of three juried shows held yearly by the society.  Freeman is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. Her work has been published in several educational books as well as the International Showcase of Prize Winners in International Artist.

In addition, she has garnered more than 100 awards in national and regional art exhibits and earned the Sylvan Grouse Guild Award Medal from the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, the Crest Medal from the Philadelphia Watercolor Society for continued excellence in watercolor and the High Winds Medal from the American Watercolor Society. She attended the Moore College of Art and Design, and Tyler School of Fine Art in Philadelphia, Pa.

For the exhibition, the Delaware Watercolor Society will present first-, second- and third-place monetary awards as well as several nonmonetary Juror’s Choice Awards for artistic merit. The Delaware Watercolor Society, a regional organization, offers two levels of membership to its 120-plus members. The society provides several show opportunities throughout the year, offers educational opportunities and participates in a variety of outreach projects each year. All art for the show will be new art and not previously exhibited.

The Peninsula Gallery is currently in its 17th year of operation and offers fine art by more than 20 local, regional and international artists; fine art conservation and contemporary framing; and fine art restoration. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday. Framing consultations are available Tuesday to Saturday. The gallery is closed Mondays.
