Scotts Chapel & Gallery at Epworth announces exhibit of paintings by Rooney and Shupard

March 28, 2013

The Visual Arts Program at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach is excited to announce a new exhibit, Paintings by Linda Rooney and Marjorie Shupard. This show, by two fine artists that are also members of Epworth, began March 24 with an opening reception and will run through April 28.

Rooney said "I paint for pleasure. I have not painted since I took two classes about 40 years ago, and needed to work and raise my children. About 10 years ago I decided to paint on bottles for fun, and found out that others liked them also, so I sold some in shops and gave some to friends after recording over 200 bottles.  And then, about four years ago, I decided to try watercolors. My good friend and fellow exhibitor, Margie Shupard invited me to join her painting group at the Cape Henlopen Senior Center, and I also took some other watercolor classes. I love trying new things and have found a pride in most of my art projects. I want only to share these gifts, that, I know must come from God.”

Shupard said "I started my art career late in life by enrolling in an art class at Cape Henlopen Senior Center. With the help of a great instructor, I was introduced to several media, including charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylics, and my favorite, oil. My favorite subjects are water and beach scenes, flowers, waterfowl and still life. My exhibits have included the Delaware State Fair where I received several awards, the Dover Art League, and Kent General and Milford Memorial hospitals. I feel honored to now display my work at Scott’s Chapel and Gallery in Epworth Methodist Church.”

The Gallery at Scotts Chapel is located within Epworth Church at 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, call 302-227-7743, or go to www.eumcrb.org for more information.
