Creative Impressions moves into Thunderbird Shop

Move offers more space to display art
April 8, 2013

It was a major move – but a short one – for Creative Impressions art gallery.

Formerly at 176 Rehoboth Ave., the gallery has moved across Second Street to take over the space that for more than 60 years was occupied by the Thunderbird Shop, 200 Rehoboth Ave. the Thunderbird Shop closed its doors earlier this month.

Manager Susan Korwek said the move gives the gallery more display space for artwork. The move was finalized March 22, and the gallery is slowly getting ready for summer; a new sign went up earlier this week.

Korwek said no major changes were made to the building, which has been largely the same since the 1920s, other than installing wall partitions to display artwork and removing the center counter area.

“It’s been very favorable,” Korwek said. “Our customers who have followed us, as well as customers who patronized Thunderbird, like what we’ve done with the space.”

Everything is now on one floor, Korwek said. “It opened up a lot of areas that customers did not realize we had art in,” she said.

Creative Impressions has been in Rehoboth since 1984, with a second location in Annapolis, Md. Korwek said the inventory won’t really change, although she can display more art.

“We wanted to have our customers who come every year see us in a new space. We were kind of excited to do that before season hit. For people who have never visited Rehoboth before, it’s kind of exciting to offer them a new spot,” Korwek said.

Creative Impressions is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Korwek said during the summer, the gallery will be open seven days a week.
