John Amherst Hall, retired sales manager

John Amherst Hall, 89, of Salisbury, Md., passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Amherst B. Hall and Isabelle K. Brittingham.

John was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He worked in heating and air conditioning, retiring in 1994 as sales manager for Rogers Refrigeration. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, flying and bowling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Madeline Hall; five children, Barbara Hall of Dallas, Texas, John Philip Hall and his wife Susan of Lewes, Cathy Pulliam of Ormond Beach, Fla., Greg Flurer and his wife Sandy of Berlin, Md., and Brian Flurer and his wife Nancy of Quantico, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Jamie Genzel, Jessica Russell, Jennifer Ralph, Kacey Betau, Erin Handley, Matthew Hall, Matthew Flurer, Brittany Flurer, David Flurer and Michael Flurer; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Boyd of Sylvania, Ga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Hall.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, March 30, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury with the Rev. Howard Travers officiating.
