Adult education students enjoy legislative luncheon

April 2, 2013

Sussex Tech Adult Division students were guests at the annual Meet and Greet the Many Faces of Adult Education legislative luncheon held March 14 in Dover. The gathering is held to provide a casual atmosphere where students and legislators can converse about the immediate and long-term value of adult education in Delaware.

The event was hosted by Sen. Cathy Cloutier, Sen. Karen Peterson, Sen. Dave Lawson and Sen. Ernie Lopez, as well as Rep. Mike Barbieri, Rep. Helene Keeley, Rep. Jeff Spiegelman and Rep. Tim Dukes.

Following lunch, legislators heard from students about how the adult education programs in Delaware are positively affecting their lives and the lives of those around them. Speaking for adult students at Sussex Tech was Ola Waples. Student Amanda Burris and James H. Groves Adult High School Principal Terri Corder accompanied Waples to the luncheon.

Shown attending the legislative luncheon are (l-r) Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes; Sussex Groves Adult Education students Ola Waples of Georgetown and Amanda Burris of Lincoln; and Sussex Groves Adult High School Principal Terri Corder.
