Live, Love, Laugh - and Plan workshop May 3 focuses on life after working years

Talks will cover healthcare directives, in-home care, preplanning for funerals and more
April 6, 2013

A seminar focused on planning for the future for those who are working daily, heading for retirement, already retired, or have parents who are in this status is set for 1 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 3, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach.

A number of spokespersons will offer insight regarding resources and services available for making plans to remain at home and enjoy the work-free years as well as arranging for whatever in-home assistance may be required. In addition, the importance of deciding on funeral preferences and making them known to family members as well as the need for putting healthcare directives in writing will be addressed.

A representative from Beebe Medical Center will present information and provide materials on preparing an Advanced Health Care Directive and File of Life; a speaker from the Department of Health and Social Services will inform attendees of assistance available in Delaware and Sussex County for those who are in need of in-home care; a representative from a locally owned home care agency will provide information about the services offered for the home-bound as well as support for family members. In addition, Pastor Donald Schaefer of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior will discuss the benefit of funeral preplanning and the theological perspective of cremation vs. full body burial.

There will be four 30-minute presentations with 10-minute breaks to enjoy some healthy snacks, pick up handouts and/or have a personal interchange with one of the speakers.

Lutheran Church of Our Savior is located at 20276 Bay Vista Road, one block off Route 1 south and behind Big Fish Grill. Call the church office at 302-227-3066 if there are any questions.
