Cape girls' soccer outscores Laurel 10-0

The Cape Henlopen girls' soccer team opened its season with a decisive 10-0 victory over the Laurel Bulldogs at Legends Stadium March 28.

The Lady Vikes dominated from the opening kick, led by Shelby Thomas's three goals. Alex Coverdale added two goals while Mallory McDonald and Joanne Garcia each scored once and had an assist. Stephanie Mendez, Destany Woodward and Amanda Atkinson each added a goal.

The Vikings outshot the Bulldogs 23-0 and took three penalty corners while Laurel had none. Laurel's Taylor McGinness had nine saves in her first game as goalkeeper.

The Vikings travel to Dover Tuesday, April 9, to battle the Senators.
