Delaware Forestry presents Tree Farmer of the Year Award

Delaware Forestry Association President Brian Michalski, in back, recognized Delaware tree farmers with 25 years of continuous Tree Farm Certification at the organization’s recent annual meeting in Bridgeville.

Honored for their commitment to American Tree Farm principles, sound forest stewardship and conservation are (l-r) Austin Short Sr. of Georgetown, Bessie Shockley of Frankford and Ruth Hickman of Laurel.

Shockley received this year’s Tree Farmer of the Year Award for her enthusiasm about forest management and and her strong desire to preserve forestland in an ecologically sensitive area.
