Susan Pittard Weidman Law Offices open in Cape Region

New Route 1 location aimed at area clientele
April 18, 2013

The Law Office of Susan Pittard Weidman is growing, with a third location opening recently on Route 1 near Rehoboth Beach.

Business owner and attorney Susan Pittard Gardner, formerly Weidman, said the expansion is a response to the growing need for legal professionals in the areas of real estate and estate and elder law.

Traveling for years from offices in Millville and Millsboro to represent clientele north of Indian River Inlet, Gardner said when she found the new location on Route 1 next to the Shore Plaza Shopping Center, she moved fast.

"The community has been very welcoming, and we greatly appreciate it," Gardner said. "Agents have been calling, wanting to send me business, and now they are coming over with contracts."

Originally from Georgetown, the attorney said she has seen Sussex County grow dramatically in her lifetime. For more than two decades, Gardner said, she has been practicing law, working to provide effective, responsive counsel in real estate transactions.

Together with attorney Meaghan Hudson, who also practices at her offices, Gardner said reaching out to the Cape Region community as educational legal advisors and private attorneys is a big part of her practice.

Hudson specializes in estate planning and elder law and often, the pair ventures out to give educational talks to groups of real estate agents or civic organizations such as CHEER, informing the growing senior population about better planning an estate.

"We are educating them on what is valid in Delaware and pre-planning for any incapacity or illness," Hudson said.

Reaching out to the community is a big part of her business, Gardner said, and the legal team works hard to be responsive to its clientele.

The two attorneys at the Law Offices of Susan Pittard Weidman said they like to stay in personal contact with clients; one-on-one relationships are an important part of their business.

A close-knit group of legal support staff at the offices makes sure nothing slips through the cracks at any of the three offices, legal secretary Lisa Baker said.

"Customer service is what sets this office apart," Baker said. "Most attorneys do not return phone calls; they let the secretaries do that, but Meaghan and Susan prefer to make the calls."
