Fun and Philanthropy in the Rehoboth Beach Area on April 20
Whether you're a beach local or a visitor, Saturday, April 20 is shaping up to be a great weekend for giving back in the Rehoboth Beach/Lewes area. To start your day off, head to Cape Henlopen State Park for Autism Delaware's biggest fundraising event of the year, 2013 Walk for Autism. This year's walk is a three mile tour through the amazlingly beautiful Cape Henlopen landscape of pines, dunes, crashing waves, and historic monuments. It's a great activity for families! The Walk ends with a celebration in the park, including food, music, and children's activities. It's free to walk but fundraising is encouraged. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the walk begins at 11:00 am.
As for the evening, make sure you have a babysitter! The philanthropic Comedy at the Beach hosts Michael Ian Black, a nationally recognized comedic talent, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. You might know Black from his humorous commentary on the VH1 series I Love the 80's/90's or the cult movie hit Wet Hot American Summer. Currently, Black is a regularly touring stand-up comedian with a uniquely brash style.
Comedy at the Beach has been bringing comedians to Rehoboth Beach for the past decade, hosting Joan Rivers, Margaret Cho, and Weird Al Yankovic, to name a few! The organization's sole purpose is to benefit The Jefferson School, a non-profit independent school with a reputation for excellence, located in nearby Georgetown.
Tickets are priced from $35 (back section) to $85 (front row). In the past, shows have sold out well before the event. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show begins at 7:00 pm. There will be food vending as well as a cash bar. For information and to purchase tickets, visit www.comedyatthebeach.com.
