New state program to assist manufactured home owners

April 11, 2013

I am pleased to announce a new state initiative is getting underway to assist manufactured homeowners in Delaware who are behind on their lot rent or home payments.

The new Manufactured Housing Assistance Program (MHAP) – which will be officially unveiled on Monday, April 15th at a press event in Dover – is the result of state funding being set aside during the last budget cycle for manufactured homeowners in need of financial assistance.

Last year, as a member of the Joint Finance Committee, I proudly fought for this line of funding. The budget-writing committee allocated funding for the program, which will provide up to $5,000 to assist manufactured homeowners with paying delinquent lot rents or home payments.

After working hard to help get this program funded, I am thrilled that it is finally being unveiled.   believe this program will go a long way toward helping many homeowners get the assistance they need in order to remain in their homes. It was an honor to be part of this important effort for the manufactured housing community in Delaware. For more information, please contact the Delaware Housing Authority at 1-888-363-8808.
