Robert E. Marstiller, enjoyed woodworking

Robert E. “Bob” Marstiller, 84, of Lewes passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mr. Marstiller was born March 12, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Glenn Stewart Marstiller and Caroline Hamrick Marstiller.

Bob began his working life in the coal mines, at a steel factory and for the Goodyear Aircraft factory. He then went on to spend 22 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Lewes, retiring in 1991 as a letter carrier.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict for two years as an MP in Korea, and later he was stationed at Fort Miles in Lewes until his discharge in 1952.

He was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church and the Lewes Lions Club where he had served in all the chairs including serving as president, and he was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. He was one of the organizers for the Meet Loaf Club at Lemon Tree for approximately 20 years. Bob thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, which included furniture for his home, a dulcimer and a sound system console desk for his church. He also took great pride in his pickup trucks.

Mr. Marstiller is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Aline E. (Stevie) Marstiller of Lewes; two sisters: Virginia Kuhn of Manchester, Conn., and Eleanor J. Tacy of Beverly, W.Va.; and one brother: Glenn Junior Marstiller of Windham, Ohio. He was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friend may call one hour prior to services. Interment with military honors will be in Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lewes.
