Dr. Elizabeth C. Bell, Top Doc

Dr. Elizabeth C. Bell, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Georgetown University Medical Center surrounded by her family.

A Delaware County resident most of her life, she has been a resident of Rehoboth Beach for many years. Her most cherished role was as mother of her six children, providing nurturing, love, encouragement, support and education. Her professional career comprised a rich diversity of positions including teacher at The School in Rose Valley, head of the Delaware County Council for Literacy, psychology professor, family practice physician, and most recently, author of her first novel, "Arbor Lane." Dr. Bell received numerous honors and awards throughout her career including selection as Woman of the Year in Media, Pa., and recognition as one the Top Docs in Delaware.

Dr. Bell will be dearly missed by her six children, Joe (Margi), Mike (Terry), and Tom (Janice) Piorkowski, Anne (Jim) Hovis, Beth (John) Ruskey and Christine (Rob) Barth; her brothers, Dick and Steve Bell; her 11 grandchildren; her best friend, Peg Kemske; and her numerous other beloved friends and relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at St. John Chrysostom, 615 South Providence Road, Wallingford, Pa. Her viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 12, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, Pa. Interment will be in S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
