Nancy G. Edmanson, retired teacher

Nancy Joan Gensler Edmanson, 83, of Milton passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.

Nancy was born in Carlisle, Pa., the daughter of the late Raymond and Cora Gensler. She was a proud graduate of West Chester University. She was a schoolteacher, having taught at East Millsboro Elementary for 14 years, and other schools in all three counties for a total of 34 years, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the National Education Association and the Delaware Education Association. She was also a member of Grace Church and taught Sunday school for many years and also served in other capacities. She volunteered for Delaware Read Aloud and the American Diabetes Association after retirement. She was an avid sports fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband Wallace G. Edmanson; three children, W.G. Edmanson II and wife Ana of Camden, Shelley Fleetwood and husband James Gusek of Lakewood, Colo., and Karen Kelly and husband James of Lincoln University, Pa.; two stepsons, Richard Edmanson of Wilmington and Robert Edmanson of Washington; two sisters, Letty Hays of Carlisle, Pa., and Exley Fitzpatrick of Green Park, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Grace Gensler of Newville, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Mia and Geena Edmanson and Clare and Christian Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 12, at Grace Church, Union St., Milton, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Church, 514 Union St., Milton, DE 19968.
