Robert Plunkett, Rehoboth business owner

Robert Plunkett, 85, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home in Orlando, Fla.. Born in West Bradford Township , Pa., he was the son of the late Oliver Plunkett and Edith Parradine Plunkett. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred “Millie” Shine Plunkett in 2005. He is survived by his son, Robert O. Plunkett of Rehoboth Beach; and a granddaughter, Lauren Jacquinto of Norristown, Pa. Also surviving are his sister Constance Plunkett of West Chester, Pa., and 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Owen Plunkett; and brothers Richard John Plunkett of Valley Forge, Pa, Gordon Oliver Plunkett, Earl Plunkett and Horace Plunkett of West Chester, Pa.

Mr. Plunkett graduated from West Chester High School and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He had also been the owner and operator of Bob’s Bikes and the Whitson Apartments, both in Rehoboth Beach. He had founded West End Towing of West Chester, Pa., Exton Auto Parts in Exton, Pa. and had formerly worked for General Motors and Chrysler.

Funeral arrangements were handled by W. Kirk Burbage of Berlin, Md. A private burial was held at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery in Georgetown. Memorial donations may be made to The National Parkinson’s Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD, 21741-5018.
