East Coast Garden Center will celebrate spring with its Flower and Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28. Events include a live broadcast, new plants, face painting and hot dogs. The event will also feature local artists who demonstrate, exhibit and sell their art.

Award-winning local artist Jan Bain will lead a class for children and adults in sketching and painting flowers at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27. Cost is $5 per person.

Bain paints in watercolor and oil. She has studied and been inspired by wonderful art teachers for a long time, and she hopes to share this inspiration and the simple joy of painting with children.  She was an English teacher, elementary principal, high school principal and district administrator. Presently she is teaching at Delaware Tech in Georgetown.

Other classes offered during the Flower and Arts Festival include Cooking with Herbs at 11 a.m., Saturday, and Starting a Home Garden at 1 p.m., Sunday.
