National Pretzel Day is at hand

April 25, 2013

The Rehoboth Beach Philly Pretzel Factory is ready for one of its busiest days of the year: Friday, April 26 aka National Pretzel Day.

Owner Paul Sarnak said the store expects to give away 2,000 to 3,000 regular soft pretzels to everyone who comes in during National Pretzel Day. Sarnak said the first 100 customers to walk through the door will get a free pretzel every day for the month of May. No purchase is required to receive a pretzel.

Last year, the Rehoboth store gave away 2,200 pretzels as part of the promotion, Sarnak said.

"It's something that gets bigger every year," he said.

Sarnak said he likes the National Pretzel Day because it brings in new customers who may never have had a pretzel.

National Pretzel Day was declared an official holiday in 2003 in Pennsylvania, the origin of Philly Pretzel Factory. Although the franchise now has locations in other states, all Philly Pretzel Factory locations celebrate the day.

The Rehoboth Philly Pretzel Factory in Midway Galleria on Route 1 will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on National Pretzel Day.
