William W. Buchanan, history buff

William Wesley Buchanan, 66, of Lewes, passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Born Dec. 9, 1946, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Andrew Hamilton Buchanan Jr. and Elizabeth West Buchanan.

He was a consultant, having retired from the DuPont Chemical Company after a career of 33 years. He was a member of the Lewes Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 and a former member of the Wacky Club associated with the Little Sisters of the Poor. He loved baseball and sports and was a history buff.

He loved Westerns, and in his conduct he always had to be right, and usually was!

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carolyn E. Jenney Buchanan, and his children: Cheryl Hoffman and her husband Mark of Nashville, Tenn.; Wayne Burroughs and his wife Stacey of Millsboro; Clinton Burroughs Jr. of Lewes; James Burroughs and his wife LiAnn of Georgetown; Linda Buchanan of Middletown; and Sharon Urban and husband Andrew of Bear. He is also survived by his brothers: Andrew Buchanan III and wife Barbara of Lewes; and David Buchanan and wife Carol of Nottingham, Pa. In addition, he has 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends across the state.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after noon. Pastor Robert Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
