Nolan Sandlin, UD student

April 18, 2013

Nolan Sandlin, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, our "Nolie" was gently lifted into the heavenly hands of God.

Nolan was born in Monterey, Calif., Aug. 20, 1992, to his parents, Sylvia and Russ Sandlin. He joined his older brother Colin as the newest member of the family.

Nolan was a junior at the University of Delaware in Newark where he was majoring in criminal justice. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and loved attending the university where he made many friends. He enjoyed the academic environment and spoke highly of the faculty members. He was a 2010 graduate of Polytech High School in Woodside. Nolan attended Holy Cross Elementary School in Dover and enjoyed attending Space Camp headed up by Father Michael Darcy. Nolan was always off on adventures with his friends Noah, Gerard and Terrell and their families, and had many wonderful memories spending summers in Rehoboth and going to New York City for the weekends.

Nolan was predeceased by his brother Colin, who died in 2010. He loved his big brother, and Colin was very proud of Nolan, whom he constantly bragged about to everyone.

Nolan is survived by his mother and father; his maternal grandparents, Cyril and Noreen Maher of Dover; his paternal grandparents, Fran and Roger Sandlin of Richmond, Ind.; his aunts and uncles, Peggy Maher-Daniels and Mark Daniels of Bear; Caroline and Joe Romanko of Medford, N.J.; Noreen and Dr. Bryan Kurland of Ft. Myers, Fla.; Karen and Scott Silverman of Dresden, Maine; along with his cousins, Patrick and Neil Daniels, Michael, Joseph and Sabrina Romanko, Cyril, Fiona and Coco Kurland, and Larkin and Amanda Silverman.

We will dearly miss our beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. We know he is at peace and with his brother. His quiet demeanor and gentle smile were the trademark of his personality.

Funeral services will be private, and letters of condolence can be forwarded to Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
