Healthcare students bring home state HOSA medals

Several Sussex Technical High School healthcare students placed in recent Health Occupations Students of America state competitions. The students made a clean sweep in Dental Science during only the second year of existence of the program. Students who medaled at the states qualified to compete at the National HOSA Conference in June taking place in Nashville, Tenn.

Awards included the following: Community Awareness - silver, team of Zoe Callaway (Seaford) and Kara Carmean (Georgetown); bronze, team of Yazmin Rodriguez (Selbyville) and Lauren Shapley (Seaford); CPR/First Aid - gold, team of Lindsay Hetrick (Milton) and Rachel Mayhorn (Lewes); Dental Science - gold,  Krystie Collins (Seaford); silver, Hiten Patel (Georgetown); bronze, Thomas Pinto (Milton); Health Education -  silver,  team of Hailey Amendt (Georgetown) and Megan Parkhurst (Milton); HOSA Bowl -  bronze, team of Michael Dopler (Seaford), Ricky Hernandez (Frankford), Matthew Rosas (Seaford) and Seth Wilson (Millsboro); Job Seeking Skills - gold, Henson Destine (Seaford); silver, Christopher Clifton (Bridgeville); Medical Terminology - gold,  Bansri Patel (Seaford); silver, Chelsea LeCates (Seaford); Physical Therapy - silver, Caitlin Cook (Laurel).
