Samuel Sockriter Sr., auto mechanic

Samuel 'Buck' Sockriter Sr., 68, of Ellendale, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Buck was born Jan. 22, 1945, in Harbeson to the late Hayward and Emma Spencer Sockriter.

He was an automobile mechanic. Buck enjoyed dirt track racing, his puppies, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob. He is survived by his wife, Alice Buckley Sockriter of 50 years; six children, Elaine Poe and husband Nick of Levittown, Pa., Diane McConnell and friend Wayne Moore of Harrington, Samuel Sockriter Jr. and wife Christine of Ellendale, Linda Romero and husband Salvador of Laurel, Robert Sockriter of Ellendale, and Teresa Alexander and husband Nelson of Millsboro; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers Raymond Sockriter of Milton and Willard Sockriter of Reddick, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Walker of Redden and Francis Rhea of Viola, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, at noon at Oakley Church in Ellendale. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral service. Interment will be at Oakley Church Cemetery.
