Cape track boys place second at Twilight Relays

The Cape Henlopen boys' track team got strong performances across the lineup April 19 at the Twilight Relays and finished second with 86 points behind A.I. duPont with 90 points.

“We were missing our two hurdlers, and Sam Young, our pole vaulter, is out with a sprained ankle," coach Matt Lindell said.

The boys' relays and Cape times, splits and finishes follow:

The 4-by-800-meter relay  of Tony Hazzard 2:11, Solomon Cox 2:11, Dan MacElrevey 2:06-high and Amir Conley 2:07 ran 8:36 for second place.

Swedish medley (100-200-300-400-meter progression) of Tyreik Burton 11.3, Raekwon Dukes 23.9,  Wardell Allen 34.0, Maurice and Mills 51.3 ran 2:01.43 for second place.

4-by-200 relay of  Burton 23.5, Dukes 23.2, Allen 23.2 and  Mills 23.2 ran 1:33.10 for second place.

Distance medley (800, 400, 1,200,1,600 m) of Cox 2:12, Allen 55.0, Conley 3:38 and MacElrevey 4:47 ran 11:36 for third place.

4-by-100 relay of Burton 11.2, Dukes 10.9, Hazzard 10.8 and Mills 12.0 finished in 45.07 for second place.

Sprint medley (400, 200, 200, 800) of Hazzard 54.0, Burton 22.3, Dukes 23.8 and Conley 2:06 finished in 3:46 for third place.

4-by-400 relay was cancelled due to lightning.

The high jump relay team of Jeremiah Cohen 6-feet-4-inches and Lucas Reis 6-0 captured first place.

Long jump  relay of Reis 20-7.75 and Cohen 19-7.25 also won first place.

Triple jump relay of Cohen 42-1.5 and Reis 41-4 won first place to sweep the jumps.

In the discus relay, Mike Miller threw 131-3 and Tavon Scott 96-10 for third place.

In the shot put relay, Miller threw 40-9.5 and Scott threw 32-.75 for third place.
