I was fortunate over the past week to be involved with two events designed to support our community. On April 18th Cape Henlopen hosted a Blood Drive. The school, in conjunction with the Blood Bank of Delmarva, involved over 100 Cape Henlopen students. The school was able to donate 64 pints of blood which will be used to help those in need. I want to thank my co-coordinators, Dennis Arden and Sue McKone. Additionally, this effort could not have been possible without the support of our school’s administration, custodial staff, Jane Towers and the Blood Bank staff, Students in Action Leadership Team, as well as countless others.
On April 21st I served as the chairperson of Seaside Jewish Community’s Oy Vey 5K. The race was organized with the assistance of Tim Bamforth and the Seashore Striders. This inaugural event was designed to benefit the educational programs at Seaside Jewish Community. 114 individuals registered for either the 5K run or the one mile dog friendly walk. I am thankful for the efforts of Tim and his staff for making the event a rousing success. Additionally, our volunteers from SJC made the experience phenomenal for the participants. Without the support of our sponsors, the event would not have taken place. Thank you to Beacon Pediatrics, Beebe Medical Center, Group J, Lounging Lizard, The Shirt Factory, Pat’s Pizza, Viridian, Silver Electric, EagleBank Corp, Cracker Barrel and others who made donations.
It is a privilege to serve the Cape community. I feel blessed to be connected with so many great people.
