Historic Lewes home featured in New York Times business section

April 26, 2013

The April 21, edition of The New York Times featured a familiar home in its well-known “What You Get For…” section. The Selby Hitchens House, located at 431 Kings Highway, was showcased by the newspaper both online and in print alongside homes from Hillsborough, N.C. and Oakland, Calif. All three homes are listed for sale around $795,000 and the article compares and contrasts pricing and features across different areas of the country.

Both the homeowners and listing agent, Sandi Bisgood of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty, were pleased with the exposure given to the property.

“The reporter from the New York Times called me and said he had been searching the Sotheby’s website for a property and found 431 Kings Highway in Lewes,” said Bisgood. “He asked if he could feature it and we were thrilled.” The property, now under contract, is a landmark on a main street in the historic district. Three separate structures exist on the site, which was built in 1730 and restored over the past 10 years with deep respect to its legacy."

“The world is quickly moving to a global marketplace, especially in the real estate sector,” said Justin Healy, OA Sotheby’s broker. “We are happy with the access and exposure we have to major media partners, like the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the International Herald Tribune. It’s always fun to see our great homes and towns showcased in national and global publications.”
