(Cape May, NJ)  Today, Cape May – Lewes Ferry (CMLF) officials announced that the outdoor bar and grill, “On the Rocks, (OTR)” located at the water’s edge at both the Cape May and Lewes ferry terminals are open for the summer season.  Beginning Friday, April 26, both OTR bar and grill locations will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Lewes and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Cape May.  After Memorial Day, these outdoor waterfront locations will be open seven days a week.

New menu items are coming soon to both “On the Rocks” grills!   “We are excited to open up our signature outdoor locations,” said Joe Peltz, Superintendent of Food and Retail.  “On the Rocks” in  Cape May & Lewes are the perfect place to watch the ferry vessels come and go or simply take in the beauty of the Delaware Bay while enjoying a juicy burger or fresh seafood.  Our customers expect a great experience here at the Ferry and we’re going to do everything we can to exceed those expectations.”

While OTR will offer some of the same popular menu items that have become fan favorites over the years, the Ferry food service staff plans to introduce a number of new entrée and appetizer choices.  Local beers on tap will include some new beers from the Cape May Brewery and familiar microbrews from Dogfish Head in Cape May and 16 Mile and Evolution in Lewes.

OTR is also your ticket to some great live entertainment, with both OTR locations featuring live entertainment throughout the season.  Both locations have ample hassle free parking and weekly specials.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the live entertainment schedules and daily food specials.

In addition, Peltz noted that a new menu of freshly-prepared “Grab-‘n-Go” items is available now inside the terminals for customers to enjoy ashore or to take with them onboard the ferries.  “Customers can enjoy our new signature sandwich series, such as our Old Bay Chicken Salad and Roast Beef with Cheddar Horseradish.  These sandwiches feature freshly baked Touch of Italy rolls and premium deli meats and cheeses sliced on site.  Our new salads have really taken off too!  The new fresh Fruit & Nut Salad is prepared fresh on site, and features dried cranberries and praline pecans.  It has already proven to be a best seller.”

The Cape May - Lewes Ferry (CMLF) operates year round and has carried more than forty million passengers since its inception on July 1, 1964.  In 2012, the ferry service, which connects Victorian Cape May, New Jersey, and historic Lewes, Delaware, transported nearly 300,000 vehicles and approximately one million passengers.
