Mary Ellen Brooks, loved to cook

Mary Ellen Brooks, 79, of Millsboro, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at her late residence.  She was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Harrisburg, Pa., daughter of the late Hiram Kibe and the late Ellen Funk  Kibe.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks  was predeceased by her husband James Brooks in 1995; and a son and daughter Mark and Lisa Yost.  Mrs. Brooks retired in 1994 from the dietary department at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes after 15 years of service.  She loved to cook and for many years was involved with the auxiliary of Indian River Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are sons John Yost and wife Sue  of Halifax, Pa. and Corey Brooks and wife Emmy of Philadelphia, Pa.; daughters Elizabeth Lorah and husband Donald of Millsboro, Bonnie Plau of Frankford and Erica Henry and husband Josh of Laurel; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a devoted care giver Alishia Fream.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, at  Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with Pastor J. Allen Miller officiating.
