The Lower Eastern Shore Heritage Council Presents Survival Boot Camp Training on May 15

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Heritage Tourism Program is offering a Survival Boot Camp training session for heritage tourism sites and organizations on Wednesday, May 15 from 8:00am to 1:30pm at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

Survival Boot Camp is a half-day training session that involves an active and hands-on discussion of the actions you can take to get a better handle on your organizations situation in today’s economy. It is designed to engage participants in voicing their challenges and ideas, to help in developing creative strategies for their own sites and destinations, and to offer inspiration through the sharing of survival stories from across the country.

Carolyn Brackett, the Senior Field Officer with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will be facilitating and leading the discussion. She has been involved with the development of the ten year strategic plan for the Maryland Heritage Areas Program and the development of the corridor management plan’s heritage tourism sections for Michener’s Chesapeake Byway.

This program is meant to benefit volunteers, board members, or staff involved in areas of historic sites, museums, Main Street Programs, scenic byways, heritage areas, arts organizations, and state and county tourism agencies. The strategies discussed within this program have shown to be successful for many of these cultural and heritage tourism organizations across the country.

Advanced paid reservation is required. Registration fee is $20 per person if received by May 1st. After May 1st registration cost is $25. Final registration must be received by May 10th. A continental breakfast and full lunch are included.
