Greenwood raid nets 750 bags of heroin

Police found 750 bags of heroin and a stolen handgun April 30 when they raided a Greenwood motel room.

Officers with the Sussex County Governor's Task Force and the Sussex County Drug Unit conducted a month-long investigation into drug activity at the Greenwood Inn north of Greenwood, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Police discovered heroin, a loaded .40-caliber handgun that was stolen during an earlier burglary, $1,000 and drug paraphernalia, Fournier said.

Police arrested Raymond H. Wood, 27, and Charli M. Evans, 24, both of Greenwood and Donna Ferrell, 22, of Federalsburg, Md. All were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wood also faces possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, criminal impersonation, criminal mischief and other weapons charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $75,000 cash bail.

Evans was additionally charged with criminal impersonation and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in default of $46,000 cash bail.

Ferrell was committed to Delores Baylor in default of $44,500 cash bail.
