Cape softball beats Smyrna 9-4 behind Duffy three-hit performance

The Cape softball team won its second game in a row May 1 at Smyrna, beating the Eagles 9-4. The Vikings improve to 4-5 on the season and were scheduled to play at 8-1 Polytech May 2 before hosting 5-4 Red Lion Friday, May 3.

Cape led the Eagles 6-2 after two innings and stayed in front while collecting 10 hits as Riley Shields pitched the first four innings with Hailey Passwaters coming on for three innings of scoreless relief.

Tiara Duffy was 3 for 3 in the game with a pair of RBIs and 3 runs scored. Duffy and Alexis Burger each hit a double.

Taylor John had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the Eagles, who fell to 3-8 on the season.
