Fred Beaufait, during his first term on Lewes City Council, has demonstrated his understanding of the unique character of Lewes and has applied his considerable technical knowledge and leadership skills to maintaining and improving our community. Because of these skills and his tireless efforts to discharge his elected duties, he should be returned for a second term.
I have known Fred for the past four years and have had the opportunity to work with him on several boards and committees. Most recently I have been a member of the council’s Traffic Safety Management Advisory Committee. Fred chairs this committee, formed in 2012, when council agreed with Fred’s assessment that the Lewes community would benefit from a more comprehensive consideration of traffic congestion, safety and parking issues.
Reaching public policy consensus on these topics is often challenging, but I have been impressed with Fred’s willingness to take on difficult issues, listen to all sides of the issue, apply appropriate technical analysis, and then seek consensus for a recommendation to Council. This kind of policy-decision making that has served Lewes residents well in the past will continue if we return Fred to city council.
Please join me in voting for Fred Beaufait for City Council on May 11.
