James T. Davis, had vegetable stand

James T. Davis Sr. passed away Tuesday, April 30, at the Milford Delaware Hospice.

 

Jim served  eight years in the Army during the Korean conflict. Jim was best known for his lawnmower shop on Old Landing Road and his vegetable stand where you could get a delicious watermelon and good conversation.

 

Jim was born in Missouri one of 13 children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Edna (Cheatham) Davis; his wife Doris Mae Webb Davis; six brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his sister, Opal Mikes; his brother Norman Davis; his nephew Bob Hontz; his son Rick Ieppert and wife Sue of Lewes; daughter Joyce Pennucci and husband Joe of Milton; son James T. Davis Jr. and wife Theresa of Lewes; daughter Kimberly Pezely of Milton; son Todd Davis and wife Connie of Salada, Colo.; grandchildren Sara Desler, Monica Wheit, Josh Ieppert, Kaci Ieppert, Billy Johnson, Julie Jennings, Stacy Smith, Jamie Andrews, Virginia Dittman, James T. Davis, III, Nikki Pezely, Sabrina Pezely, Eric Pezely, Kori Ann Davis, Kaiti Davis; and 18 great-grandchildren.

 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 6, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after noon. Interment with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Jim’s name to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
