Robert R. Moneymaker, DuPont Co. retiree

Robert R. Moneymaker, 77, of Bethany Beach, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 24, 2013, peacefully at his home. He was born June 29, 1935, to Jesse and Louise (Stanley) Moneymaker in Mt. Solon, Va.

Bob graduated from Seaford High School and University of Delaware and received a doctorate degree from the University of Texas. He played football for four years at the University of Delaware and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He taught at the University of Delaware and the University of Texas. Bob worked at DuPont for 32 years as a mechanical engineer in the research and development department.

Bob married Sally (Schmidt) Moneymaker June 14, 1958; they would have been married 55 years this June.

Bob was an active sailor and also enjoyed golf and tennis. He loved to build houses with his son after his retirement.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife Sally; three children, William Moneymaker and wife Susan, Steven Moneymaker and wife Kelly and Julie Moneymaker Murphy and husband Jerry; seven grandchildren; a brother, James Moneymaker; a sister, Jessie Morgan; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 17, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 300 Pine St., Seaford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Christiana Corp Ct. No. 302, Newark, DE 19713.
