Summer Cooling Program now accepting applications to provide air conditioners for residents in need

Walk-in applications scheduled for May 17 and 24 in Georgetown

Sussex and Kent County residents have the opportunity to apply for the 2013 Summer Cooling Program to receive a window air conditioner at no charge to the recipient. First State Community Action Agency is now accepting applications by appointment Monday-Friday at its Georgetown office, 308 N. Railroad Ave.

Interested applicants must call 302-856-7761 to arrange an appointment.

First State will accept walk-ins for Sussex County residents applying for a free air conditioner from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, May 17 and 24 in the Georgetown office. Kent County residents may visit between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, at the agency's Dover office inside the Blue Hen Corporate Center, 655 Bay Road, Suite 4J.

Interested applicants must bring with them the following documents: photo ID for anyone in the home 18 and over, Social Security cards for everyone in the home, birth certificates for anyone under 18; proof of income for everyone in home and current electric bill.
