Chihuahua races raise funds

May 15, 2013

The Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Chihuahua races were held at the Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station May 4. A Chihuahua Costume Pageant was scheduled for May 5 but only three dogs showed up.

The event was a fundraiser for the Dewey BeachcPatrol. With a large crowd watching, six Chihuahuas and five other dogs less than 15 pounds raced for cash and ribbons over a 50-foot course.

Shown prior to the races with last year’s winner are (l-r) Garland Williams, Kathy Bates with Oliver Pepé le Pew and Joe Kane.
