Raymond G. Ciomei, avid sports fan

Raymond George Ciomei, 99, of Lewes, formerly of Washington, D.C., Cheverly, Md. and Highland Beach, Fla., passed away suddenly Saturday, May 4, 2013, at home.

Ray was born March 2, 1914, in Washington, D.C. Ray always was an avid lover of sports and enjoyed playing golf and fishing for many years. He enjoyed reading especially the daily sports section, and watching fishing and horse races on television.

In addition to his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Joan (Apostal) Ciomei, he is survived by his daughter, Diana Lee Lindsay and her husband Walter Lee; two great-grandsons, David Lee Redick and Nicholas Thomas Exler; and numerous nephews and nieces. His sister Janice Gray; brothers Joseph Ciomei and Chester Ciomei; and his granddaughter, Jeanne Marie Exler, preceded Ray in death.

A graveside prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 Dupont Blvd., Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
