Millsboro man faces drug charges after fleeing police

May 6, 2013

A Millsboro man, 50, threw bags of heroin out of his car while fleeing officers May 3, police say.

Members of the Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit and the Governor's Task Force tried to stop Bryan Parsons at 10:15 a.m. as he drove along Hitch Pond Road in Laurel, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Parsons would not stop for police and threw bags of heroin out of his car window while he continued to drive, Fournier said.

Parsons eventually abandoned his car and ran from police who caught him after a brief foot chase, Fournier said.

Police found 13 bags of heroin inside Parsons' car and found another bag after searching Parsons' home, Fournier said. A juvenile at his home was turned over to the Division of Family Services.

Parsons was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest with force or violence, tampering with physical evidence, disregarding a police officer's signal, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and passing on the right. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $35,550 cash bail.
