Rosa Vargas de Figueroa, 85, of Millsboro, passed away at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico April 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Julio Vargas and Ramonita Rodriguez de Vargas. She was devoted to her family and the Lord. She held a degree in fashion design specializing in wedding and formal gowns. She loved children, thus serving at her local church in various positions in children's ministries. She was very artistic and displayed those talents in writing, organizing and directing biblical plays. Other passions included reading, poetry, singing, swimming and gardening.
Her husband of 59 years, Felix Eli Figueroa, passed away earlier this year. She is survived by her daughters: Miriam F Perez, Myrna Rosa Hastings and Yolanda Nock. Her seven siblings have preceded her: Julio Enrique Vargas, Delia Vargas de Echevarria, Salvador Vargas, Fernando Vargas, Lillian Vargas de Rodriguez, Jose Angel Vargas and Margarita Vargas. In addition she has five grandchildren: Delhaila, Gabriel, David, Peter, Michael, Daniel and Xavier. There are six great-grandchildren: Natasha, Desiree, Isaac, Talia, Katarina and Kellen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 13, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Israel Figueroa will officiate.
